Writing is hard work! Like most things, if you want to get better at it, it’s a skill that needs to be practiced often. As content creators here at HJMT Public Relations Inc., we’re regularly finetuning our writing abilities. In fact, we write constantly! From bylined articles/blog entries and social media posts to website copy and pitch letters, writing is a big component of our everyday routines. With that being said, we thought we’d let you in on our 3 must-know copywriting tips and tricks for selling your services.
Focus On Your Value
When writing copy to try and garner someone to buy something or reach out to you for more information, focus on your value. While it’s important to qualify your brand as the expert in your industry, even more valuable is using your words to connect with your target audience. Tell them how you can help them, why your product is outstanding, what needs you’re going to be able to meet for them, and so on. We often remind ourselves to think about a potential client’s “pain”. Why are they coming to us and what solutions can we offer them?
Call to Actions
Using a strong call to action (CTA) can be imperative. In fact, according to Hubspot, personalized CTAs convert 202% better! Why? Because they tap into your potential customer’s desire. Make sure you’re being specific, keep them concise, make them colorful, offer your end-users a deal or put a time limit on when your offer expires. All of those will help drive consumer action.
No Jargon
When writing copy for your potential customers, it’s important to meet them on their level. Don’t use jargon or big fancy industry terminology. The more simple, the better. Be clear about what you’re offering and why. Depending on your target audience, keep your tone in mind. Is your brand more casual, fun, witty, professional? Your words need to reflect that image.
