When pitching the media, often the key to getting a great placement for your brand or business is in the art of the follow-up. Reporters, editors, and producers are busier than ever and likely receive hundreds of pitches a day. It’s only natural that they may miss your initial pitch. So, it’s up to you to remind them about your story. But how often should you follow up with the media?
Typically at HJMT Public Relations Inc., we recommend following up with the media up to five times. Each time we “ping” the media person we’re hoping to tell about our client, we remind the reporter what the pitch is about, what we’re offering, and thank them for their time and consideration.
