Influencer marketing is still going strong in 2022. In fact, according to Influencer Marketing Hub, this year “the market is projected to expand to a whopping $16.4 billion industry.” That’s a lot of clout! Brands that are thinking about utilizing influencer marketing need to understand how to work with an influencer first. Here are our top three tips.
Set Your Budget
Make sure you have a budget set aside for this campaign. Most credible influencers don’t promote your product for free. Make sure to outline what your budget is including free product/shipping and handling and discount codes. If you want the best influencers, you’ll have to pay for their work and the exposure and visibility of your brand.
Don’t Be Too Controlling
While you don’t want to give influencers complete control over what or how they’ll share your brand to their dedicated audience, you do want to provide them with basic guidelines. It might be that you need video content of a certain length. It might be discussing which social media platform makes sense. It might be that you want final approval before anything is posted. Think about how much control you want over their content, but also remember, that their online communities trust them and you want their recommendations to feel authentic. Too many guidelines can be stifling.
Disclose Your Relationship
Make sure that your influencers are letting their communities know that their content for your brand is paid. Not only do their followers want to know, but for legal reasons, this disclosure is a must.
